Charcoal has been popping up all over the place in the beauty world. Some say it can be used for detoxing. I am not sure how much of that is true, but I do know there is some anecdotal evidence in my own life that points to the fact that this DIY charcoal body wash has helped clear up my body acne. I work out a lot and that means I am prone to acne on my shoulders, back and body. I have been making this stuff for a little while and I found it really did clear up some of the issues I was having. And, since the clay, baking soda and charcoal can be drying for my combination skin, I added some hemp oil to help it retain some moisture.
This easy body wash can be made in a jiffy and keeps for a couple of weeks. It lathers up decently because of the Castile soap in it, and is safe for use on your face, however I do recommend you keep it away from your eyes. Also, I recommend you do it only every few showers since like I mentioned, it can be drying especially during the hard winter months coming up.
One last note; in the picture for this post I have it in a bottle with a pump. I recommend you don’t keep it in something like this as it tends to clog up. Instead, if you have a bottle with a squeeze top, like those that dish soap come in, this would be ideal.
